PAUME launched in late 2020 with one product, the PAUME Antibacterial Hand Gel. The awardwinning formula, which features 69% ethyl alcohol, moisturizing plant-based emollients including Safflower Oil, Aloe Vera, Witch Hazel, and the PAUME Signature Blend of five essential oils with notes of woody cedar, crisp citrus, and herbaceous lavender and rosemary, is the antidote to the harsh, astringent, utilitarian hand sanitizers that have become ubiquitous.
The PAUME system works to clean, protect, and nourish hands ethically and sustainably. The refillable PAUME Pump is thoughtfully designed to look elegant in an entryway, bathroom, or nursery, and the PAUME Refill Bag is packaged in 17 oz pouches that produce 60% less plastic waste than a bottle. Each Refill Bag fills the PAUME Pump twice and the PAUME Travel Bottle five times. PAUME’s packaging materials, including the shipping box, tissue, welcome card, and stickers, are made with materials and inks that are either previously recycled, recyclable, biodegradable or reusable. In addition, PAUME’s packaging is plastic neutral through its partnership with rePurpose Global—a percentage of each sale funds the removal of plastic waste from landfills, waterways, and marine environments where they are recycled and repurposed.

The idea for PAUME first came to me over a year ago, when my husband and I brought our newborn daughter home from the hospital. Being a new parent really heightened my awareness of germs. Since I didn’t want to wash my hands with soap and water, we stocked our home with plenty of hand sanitiser, and we offered it to friends and family when they came to visit. I soon realised that most hand sanitisers have a few things in common: they were harsh on the skin, they smelled terrible, and they were packaged in unappealing, disposable plastic. It inspired me to create a unique, effective, nourishing formula with packaging that’s both elegant and sustainable.
It’s been a year of bringing PAUME to life. Now more than ever, we need products that are good for our bodies and mindful of the planet. We need to protect our hands, so we can remain in touch with our loved ones and our communities.
